Gilcomston South Church / Heritors' name plate

In Victorian times, the patrons of the church or "heritors" would pay a subscription to have the family "seat" in which they, their children and servants all sat every Sunday. There are many of these plates left on the original pews in the balcony. They remind us of a time when Church and State were one
