It’s easy to choose gifts for people that have so little – shampoo, a pair of socks, a notepad, a small toy, a bag of sweets – things we take for granted will seem like luxuries to people living in poverty. By filling a shoebox with simple gifts you can make someone happy this Christmas. If you’d like to fill a shoebox for someone living in Albania, Kosovo, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Pakistan, Serbia or the Ukraine, please pick up a leaflet at the welcome desk and return your shoebox to church on Sundays 22 or 29 October.
We’ll be starting a short 10 week course on Romans which will run on Tuesday evenings (7.30-8.30pm, starting 12 September) or Thursday afternoons (1.30-2.30pm, starting 21 September). The content will be the same, whether you opt for the afternoon or evening course. Fliers with more info are at the welcome desk.
We all get one life to live – what’s it all about?
Christianity Explored investigates the answer to this question by looking at the themes of Identity (who Jesus is), Mission (why Jesus came) and Call (what that means for us). CE is perfect if you are exploring what Christianity is all about, or are looking to refresh yourself on the basics. We plan to run the 7-session informal course in the autumn, starting on Thursday 28 September. Each week the session will run from 7-9pm and include dinner, small group discussion times and a short DVD presentation.
Think about who you might like to invite along to the course, or whether you might like to come yourself! For further details about the course, or if you would like to cook for, or pray for, the course, please speak to Esther Combe or email firstname.lastname@example.org
