Our Christmas Appeal this year will go towards the work of India Village Ministries (SCO32158) www.indiavillage.org, which its founder Suresh Vemulapalli spoke about in his recent visit to Gilc. Donations will go towards the following projects:
- i) boys’ dormitory – IVM runs a children’s home, providing a loving family atmosphere to children as well as paying for their education from primary age right through college. New government regulations mean that a second dormitory has had to be built so that boys can be segregated from girls. Additional funds will enable completion of the construction of this dormitory.
- ii) widows’ ministry (‘Restoring Joy’) – in India, elderly individuals rely on family support to help protect against poverty; for widows this support is absent. IVM offers practical support to widows who cannot work to support themselves – this support includes food, clothing, a monthly monetary gift and friendship. Additional funds will allow this work to be expanded to assist more widows.
If you wish to contribute towards the Appeal, please place your money in an envelope marked Christmas Appeal anytime in December.
