Trained

Read Daniel 1.3-5

“They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king’s service ..” (Dan.1.5)

The best of Israel’s youth were taken to Babylon, to be trained to use their gifts in the service of the king’s expansive empire: little did anyone in Babylon realise, though, how truly these young men were, indeed, being trained for the great King’s service!

The state is seeking to shape children’s perspectives today with a view to this rising generation serving the secular values of modern Scotland: how may we best equip them to serve the King in such a society?

What are the particular challenges which teenagers today are facing?

Prayer: Have Your hand on teenage girls and boys today, O God, who’ve trusted in Your Son: by Your Spirit and through Your word train them for the King’s service.
