Drift

Read Ezra 5.1-2

“Now Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the prophet, a descendant of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them” (Ezra 5.1)

The foundations of the temple had been laid very promptly after the exiles had returned: but then difficulties and opposition put the work on hold and nothing further was done for some 16 years.

Are there aspects of your life where you’ve drifted from the initial enthusiasm and commitment you showed in serving the Lord Jesus Christ?

Through the ministry of His Word, what has God been challenging you about in recent days? And how have you responded to His Word?

Prayer: Please stir in me each day, my Lord, the fires of a holy love for Yourself, and help me always to abound in Your work, knowing that such labour is never in vain.
