Lavish
Read 1 John 3.1-3
“.. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God ..” (1 Jn.3.1)
Sometimes, like the older son in Jesus’ parable (Luke 15.11-32) we can be blind to what’s right in front of our eyes! John uses the same word here as that of the father in Jesus’ story (Lk.15.29) to point us to the lavishness of the Father’s love for us.
What is it that the Father, in His love, has ‘lavished’ on His people?
How can you sustain the sense of wonder at the lavishness of God’s love towards you in Jesus?
Prayer: Create in my daily, Father, a child-like thrill at all which is presently mine, and fill me with a child-like eagerness for that future glory which still awaits me.
