Read 2 Timothy 2.1-13
“Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel for which I am suffering ..” (2 Tim.2.8f)
The teaching of God’s Word must have a pure and sustained transmission from one generation of teachers on to the next – and a clear, persistent (and often costly) focus on the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What is the essence of the exhortation Paul is addressing to Timothy in this passage?
Why does Paul use these three particular ‘pictures’ (of the soldier, the athlete and the farmer) to reinforce his point?
Prayer: Help me to press on through today in the service of Your Son, remembering that He is risen from the dead, and ever present with His people as ‘the Christ’.
