Correct

Read 2 Timothy 2.14-19

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth ..’” (2 Tim.2.15)

There is a ‘correct’ way of handling God’s Word, and those called to teach the Scriptures must learn to avoid certain temptations, distractions and pitfalls if they are not to endanger the faith and fruitfulness of others.

Working from these verses, what does ‘correctly handling the word of truth’ involve?

‘True instruction’ will ‘turn many from sin’ (Mal.2.6): why is it important for the Bible teacher to heed the two quotes at the end of v.19?

Prayer: Grant me grace, O God, to heed the painful challenge of Your Word when you identify sin in my life and to correct my wayward ways.
