Idols

Read Malachi 2.10-12

“Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us? ..” (Mal.2.10)

This week’s Bible readings concentrate on the theme of faithfulness. God calls us into a family whose way of living is learned from the Father: His covenant faithfulness is to be matched by ours – and that entails, in the first place, a faithfulness to Him.

In what way had Judah ‘broken faith’ with the Lord?

Are there areas in your life where you have ‘broken faith’ with the Lord?

Prayer: ‘Return, O Holy Dove! Return, sweet messenger of rest! I hate the sins that made Thee mourn, and drove Thee from my breast. The dearest idol I have known, whate’er that idol be, help me to tear it from Thy throne, and worship only Thee.’
