Relief

Read 2 Corinthians 8.8-15

“You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Cor.8.9)

Paul was keen that the willingness previously expressed by the Corinthian believers should be translated into action: he underlines an important principle in relation to our giving that it should be ‘according to your means’ (v.11).

Are there aspects of your discipleship where you still have to act on what have been good intentions on your part?

In what ways might your ‘plenty’ at present (your gifts, your time, your money, etc) be used to relieve others who are ‘hard pressed’?

Prayer: How great is the grace You have shown me, my Lord! How lavishly – and at what cost – You have enriched my life! Help me daily to show such grace to others.
