Ready
Read Luke 1.5-17
“He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah ..” (Lk.1.16f)
An angel declares that with the remarkable birth of this child to Zechariah and Elizabeth, the promise with which the Old Testament closed is about to be fulfilled: when the Lord raises up a preacher, you’d best be ready for the coming of the King!
Why would many rejoice because of the birth of this child (v.14)?
How (according to the angel) would this child ‘make ready a people prepared for the Lord’?
Are you ready for the return of the King?
Prayer: Thank You, my Lord, for all those many different people whom You have sent into my life to ‘ready’ me for Jesus: help me similarly to ‘ready’ those around me.
