Read Daniel 1.6-7
“The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego ..” (Dan.1.7)
Names are important. They’re all about who you are. Identity. One of the key issues today. This was a strategic move to re-shape these youngsters’ sense of identity into the mould of a culture which had no room at all for the Lord.
Why do you think there is so much concern and confusion about identity in society today?
Our ‘Chief Official’ gives His people new names too! In what particular ways has He made you a new person and given you a new identity?
Prayer: I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God! Thank You, Father, for the life which You have given me, and which has made me a child of God.
