Monday 5 April

Boldness

Read Luke 23.50-53

“Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action” (Lk.24.50f)

It’s never easy to stand out from the crowd, especially when, as here, the ‘mob’ had been so aggressive and venomous in its hostility towards Jesus: Joseph, however, was prepared to put his reputation on the line and identify clearly with Jesus.

What’s the ‘boldest’ thing you’ve done for Jesus?

To what extent do you hold back in your commitment to Jesus because of what other people may think or say or do, and because of how they may react?

Prayer: ‘Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable Your servants (myself included!) to speak Your word with great boldness’ (Acts 4.29).
