Understanding
Read John 7.14-24
“..find out whether My teaching comes from God ..” (Jn.7.17)
Jesus flips our common perspective on its head! Stepping out in faith, before you’ve got it all sussed out, and doing the will of God is how you start to get it figured out. Understanding follows obedience, rather than the reverse.
What examples can you think of in Scripture where understanding follows obedience to the will and call of God?
In what ways are you conscious of yourself ‘judging by mere appearances’?
Prayer: Teach me Your way, O Lord, teach me Your way. Help me to walk aright, more by faith, less by sight, lead me with heavenly light, teach me Your way.
