Righteousness
Read John 5.13-15
“.. Jesus found him at the temple and spoke to him ..” (Jn.5.14)
The miracle of renewal leads on to a new way of living. Jesus, the good shepherd, leads His people in paths of righteousness. He seeks the man out, reminds him of the grace that he has known, and underlines his calling to a holy life.
Conversion always culminates in conformity to Christ (Rom.8.29): how is that transforming work of God evidenced in your life?
The words of Jesus to the man in v.14 might sound like legalism: what role does the law of God have alongside His work of grace in a person’s life?
Prayer: Purify my heart, Lord, cleanse me from within and make me holy. Work Your righteousness in me throughout today in my words and deeds and attitudes.
