    Stirred

    Read Haggai 1.1-15

“‘Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your panelled houses, while this house remains a ruin?’ Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Give careful thought to your ways ..” (Hag.1.4-5)

Haggai and Zechariah were the Lord’s two ‘witnesses’, bringing His word to arouse His people again to the work of building the temple: the message they brought was a word full of challenge, but a word full of encouragement as well.

As you reflect on your own situation in what ways does God’s Word through Haggai challenge you?

What encouragement should you take from the 5-fold reference through this message to God as the ‘LORD Almighty’?

Prayer: The dearest idol I have known whate’er that idol be, help me to tear it from Thy throne, and worship only Thee: Fire of God, come burn in me; renew a holy passion, till Christ my deepest longing be, my never-failing fountain (Cowper/Getty/Townend)
