Read John 11.1-3
“.. a man named Lazarus was ill ..” (Jn.11.1)
John’s understanding of the miracles as ‘signs’ means that the story of this man depicts the story of humanity itself. Loved by the Lord. But ‘ill’, sick with a chronic and fatal condition (called sin). From where will help come, if not from the Lord Himself?
What would you say are the contemporary symptoms of humanity’s chronic sinful condition?
How easy do you find it simply to leave your concern with the Lord, as the sisters do here?
Prayer: bring to the Lord by name all those whom you know today are not well, whether physically, mentally, or spiritually, and pray the “sisters’ prayer”.
