Shepherd
Read Psalm 78.65-72
“.. Then the Lord woke as from sleep, as a warrior wakes from the stupor of wine. He beat back His enemies; He put them to everlasting shame” (Ps.78.65)
The psalm ends on a positive note. The Lord’s purpose is not thwarted by His people’s perversity! He is sovereign, active, mighty, gracious, and His purpose has ‘for ever’ in view: and He gives His people what they need – a king who will shepherd them well.
Given what the psalmist said in vv.1-8, why do you think he concluded the psalm with this reference to David?
In what ways does this section point you forward to Jesus, and what do you learn of Him from these verses?
Prayer: O Lord, this is the day of resurrection again! Rise up, our Saviour and King, and shepherd Your flock in the face of all the enemies we face.
