Consecration
Read Luke 19.28-34
“Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it’” (Lk.19.30-31)
Bethphage and Bethany are on the east side of the Mount of Olives: from the Mount of Olives Jesus would cross the Kidron Valley on the west side of the Mount and thence into Jerusalem – a journey He’d repeat each day of the week (see Lk.21.37).
To what extent is your giving (of time, money, etc) shaped by, and a response to, the reality expressed here, ‘The Lord needs it’?
During this Holy Week, ask yourself – ‘What does the Lord need from me’?
Prayer: Take my life, Lord, and let it be consecrated – all of it – to You. Help me to see in what ways I may best serve Your kingdom.
