Sabbath

Read John 9.13-16

“.. the day .. was a sabbath ..”  (Jn.9.14)

How are you to view the sabbath? The well-intentioned Pharisees had hedged it around with so many rules they’d lost the plot and the point. The sabbath was given that we might catch a sight of God; this is the culmination of His purpose in Jesus.

Are you more pre-occupied with the keeping of rules than with the enjoyment of God?

In what ways does your ‘sabbath observance’ help you see the Lord more clearly?

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes. I’m so easily distracted by other things – I need Your help each day to keep my eyes fixed firmly on Yourself.
