Truth
Read Daniel 2.4-13
“.. ‘What the king asks is too difficult. No-one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men ..’” (Dan.2.11)
The king wanted truth, rather than something trite which his gurus might have figured his itching ears would want to hear (see 2 Tim.4.1-5): hence his putting them in this impossible position. It’s an authoritative word from God for which people long.
What was the king’s concern in his making this impossible demand?
How ready are you to hear and heed uncomfortable truth? Or do you switch off and walk away when you don’t hear what you want to hear?
Prayer: Forgive me when I’ve sought those soft and easy platitudes which never really satisfy or soothe my troubled heart, Lord: speak Your truth into my heart today.
