Jealousy
Read Daniel 3.8-12
“.. ‘There are some Jews .. who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up ..’” (Dan.3.12)
There’ll always be those who take a perverse delight in denouncing faithful believers: and the way in which the matter was brought to the king here (v.12) suggests that God’s prospering His people had stirred a certain jealousy in the hearts of others.
Have you a tendency to ‘do down’ others around you in what you say to them or about them?
How do you combat a critical, ‘fault-finding’ spirit when you see it in yourself?
Prayer: Deliver me, Lord, from a spirit of envy! Help me to rejoice at the success of others and to place the best interpretation on their actions, not the worst.
