Reigning
Read Daniel 7.23-28
“.. Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High ..” (Dan.7.27)
‘Empire’ is a permanent feature of human history: and there is a progression in the exercise of imperial power which shows itself in an increasingly arrogant defiance of God and His ways. But (spoiler alert!) Jesus wins – and His people win with Him!
Although, like Daniel, you know how history ends, what still leaves you ‘deeply troubled’ – as Daniel also clearly was?
“If we endure, we will also reign with Him,” declared Paul (2 Tim.2.12): what will that mean for ‘the people of the Most High’?
Prayer: How wonderful is Your love for us, O Lord, and how worthy You are of our praise today! You have freed us from our sins and privileged us to share Your reign!
