Hope
Read Daniel 9.24-27
“.. ‘Seventy “sevens” are decreed for your people and your holy city .. to put an end to sin .. to bring in everlasting righteousness..” (Dan.9.24)
These verses are notoriously difficult with many interpretations offered! Major on the basic thrust rather than the specific details of the verses. The decree of the sovereign God: the reality of satanic attack: the promise of a glorious end.
Prophecies such as this often have successive layers of fulfilment: how is the hope given to Daniel given fuller expression in the hope we have in Christ?
Today you’ll mark again the resurrection of Jesus and the giving of the Spirit, both alike heralding a glory yet to come: are you living in the light of that hope?
Prayer: Goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your house for ever! Hallelujah! Keep me faithful to the end.
