Mourning

Read Daniel 10.1-3

“.. At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks ..” (Dan.10.2)

Another king. Another era. Another vision. Remarkable as the return of the exile in the first year of Cyrus had been, it had not been without its problems. And Daniel’s praying had not been without its struggles. There is a ‘great war’. And it’s tough.

In what ways have you been aware of being caught up in that ‘great war’?

What lay behind Daniel’s ‘mourning’ for 3 weeks? Have you sometimes known a similar heaviness of spirit?

Prayer: Out of the depths I cry to You, Lord. Let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. (Ps.130.1-2). Draw near today to all who are cast down and mourning.
