Gracious

Read Luke 1.62-66

“.. to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, ‘His name is John’ ..” (Lk.1.63)

‘The Lord is gracious.’ The man had had nine long months to reflect on his disbelief (vv.19-20), and to ponder God’s promise of renewal. Through the name given to him, the child would be the message – as well as the man being later the messenger.

What have been the most striking experiences of the grace of God which you have had?

Zechariah’s being enabled to speak followed his honouring God’s word: is there a choice you have to make today in which you’ll be able to honour God?

Prayer: How gracious You have been to me, O Lord! Grant me the time in the midst of a busy life to pause regularly to marvel at Your grace and to respond in glad praise.
