Resolve
Read Psalm 122.6-9
“.. For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity” (Ps.122.9)
The first steps of discipleship involve a resolute commitment to seek first the kingdom of God: a concern for the true well-being (‘peace’/’shalom’) and security of God’s people, the true prospering of the cause of Christ’s gospel.
Does this passage challenge you to be more diligent and faithful in prayer for the cause of Christ and the people of God?
Are you more concerned with your own prosperity, or does a ‘zeal for God’s house’ (Ps.69.9 and see Jn.2.17) consume you?
Prayer: Forgive me, Lord, that I am too often much preoccupied with my own gratification and too little concerned for Your glory: fire me afresh with a holy zeal!
