“I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness ..” (John 1.23)
John the Baptist’s preaching made an impact. He drew the crowds and worried the religious authorities. ‘Who are you?’ they wanted to know. It was important that he rightly understood his calling: he was no more than a voice, pointing people to Jesus.
How do you understand God’s calling on your life?
What did John mean by ‘making straight the way of the Lord’ (see Lk.3.7-20), and how have you been making straight the way of the Lord?
