Covenant
Read Daniel 9.17-19
“.. ‘Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear Your Name ..’” (Dan.9.19)
It was primarily the glory of God, which drove Daniel’s prayer, rather than merely the prosperity of himself and his people. The Lord is in covenant with His people (Dan.9.4), and they may therefore plead for His covenant grace with an urgent intensity.
How does Daniel challenge you, and help you, in terms of your own prayer life?
What gave Daniel the boldness to plead as he did before the Lord?
Prayer: ‘Come search and test this heart, O Lord, dispel each anxious though, and lead me onward evermore to tread the path I ought’ [Greg De Blieck – ‘Were I to cross..’]
