Authority
Read Romans 13.1-3
“.. rulers hold no terror for those who do right ..” (Rom.13.3)
God has so ordered the universe under His kingship that authority is key to the well-being of any body, whether the family, state, or any other community of believers. We honour Him as King by honouring those to whom His authority has been delegated.
What do you do when rulers do hold a terror for those who do right, because they’ve re-defined what’s right – or simply removed the category?
Have there been times when you’ve had to stand your ground on the basis that ‘We must obey God rather than human beings?’ (Acts 5.29)?
Prayer: Give me the wisdom to know what is right, the boldness to do what is right, regardless of what that may entail, and the grace to suffer for righteousness’ sake.
