Redeemed

Read Psalm 78.42-54

“They did not remember His power – the day He redeemed them from the oppressor” (Ps.78.42)

The psalmist catalogues the many demonstrations of the power of God as He set His people free from their slavery in Egypt and ‘brought His people out like a flock’. The ‘marvelous’ quickly became the ‘mundane’ in their memories.

Read 2 Tim.4.18: can you enumerate, as the psalmist does here, all that’s involved for the Lord in bringing you safely to His heavenly kingdom?

How easily do you forget just how marvelous have been the varied ways in which God has worked in your life to deliver you from the slavery of sin?

Prayer: Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast save in the death of Christ my God! All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them through His blood (Isaac Watts)
