Read Psalm 138.1
“.. I will praise You, LORD, with all my heart ..’” (Ps.138.1)
This week’s readings take you slowly through a memorable psalm which has continuing application to the circumstances of every believer. The ‘gods’ referred to in this verse are all the ‘false gods’ to which the society around you vainly looks.
Praise, directed to the LORD, is the new language of those brought to newness of life by the Holy Spirit: what prompts such praise in your own heart?
What are the false ‘gods’ by which you’re most conscious of being surrounded?
Prayer: Help me, Lord, to start each day as well as each week with praise: come by Your Holy Spirit and stir such praise in my heart as I set my eyes on You again.
