Read Romans 16.1-2
“I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of His people ..” (Rom.16.1)
Phoebe had exercised a significant ministry in the responsibilities she had faithfully undertaken: though a stranger to the believers in Rome, Paul wanted to ensure that they would give her the practical help she would need as she came among them.
In what ways might you be able to afford practical help to believers from elsewhere who come among you and your fellowship?
The task of ‘deacons’ is onerous and demanding in any fellowship (see Acts 6.1-7): how might you find a way of expressing your thanks to them?
Prayer: You call some to specific roles of responsibility, Lord: sustain them in the demands of their calling and show me how I might best help them.
