Sunday 22nd August

Kingdom

Read Daniel 6.23-28

“.. He is the living God, and He endures for ever: His kingdom will not be destroyed, His dominion will never end. He rescues and saves ..” (Dan.6.26f)

Those who’d falsely accused Daniel are themselves the ones who suffer: the one who judges justly (1 Pet.2.23) will always see to that, for the kingdom of God is marked pre-eminently by righteousness (see Rom.14.17). The nations at last will praise Him!

How might you seek, as well as pray for (see v.25), the true ‘prosperity’ (Heb. ‘shalom’) of the people around you?

In what ways do the words of the king’s decree in vv.26-27 encourage you today in the face of present circumstances?

Prayer: Fill my heart today, O Lord, with an ever-deepening delight in all that You are: how I thank You that You have brought me into a kingdom that cannot be shaken!
