Read Luke 19.1-10
“Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Lk.19.9-10)
Luke deliberately precedes his account of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem with what amounts to a ‘dress rehearsal’ played out in the city of Jericho. It’s the story of a man who welcomed Jesus gladly – and whose life and living was transformed.
What are the points of similarity you can see between this narrative and the accounts of ‘Palm Sunday’?
What practical lessons can you learn from the way in which Zacchaeus ‘welcomed’ Jesus according to v.8? Will this be your welcome today?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that You take notice of me and have called me by name into Your kingdom. I want to welcome You into my heart and home and daily living.
