Preserved

Read Psalm 124.1-6

“.. Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth ..” (Ps.124.6)

Like an earthquake out in the ocean, the gospel can trigger a great tsunami of hostility directed against Christ’s church. But down through history, Christ has wonderfully preserved His church in the face of waves of persecution intended to destroy her.

What instances have there been in your experience of the Lord’s preserving grace in the face of ‘persecution’ directed against you?

Why is it that “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim.3.12)?

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your preserving presence with me when I walk through dark valleys and troubled times. Help me hold onto that truth today.
