Read Daniel 9.4-8
“.. ‘Lord, You are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame ..’” (Dan.9.7)
Here is an illuminating window onto Daniel’s consistent prayer life (see Dan.6.10). An awareness of the greatness, and grace, of God, and an acknowledgement, as a sinner himself, of the reality, nature and consequences of sin.
What might you learn from the variety of ways in which sin is described by Daniel in these verses?
When did you last confess your sin to the Lord like this?
Prayer: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me (Ps.51.10-11).
