Praise
Read Luke 18.35-43
“.. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God” (Lk.18.43)
Bartimaeus had nothing to offer Jesus: he could only plead for mercy from the ‘servant King’. Jesus’ words to him – ‘what do you want Me to do for you?’ – become the watchword in turn for His people as they rise, restored, to follow Him.
When Saul saw the Lord on the road to Damascus he asked Him, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ (Acts 22.10): have you asked that same question of the Lord?
What has been the Lord’s call on your life – and what ways has your daily living become a ‘sacrifice of praise’ to the Lord?
Prayer: Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. What will You have me do for You today? Help me to be attentive to the promptings of Your Spirit and serve You well today.
