Read 2 Peter 3.11-18
“You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming” (2 Pet.3.11f)
The Lord’s Day is a weekly reminder to you of the resurrecting power of God. A day is coming when He will raise the dead and renew the whole of creation. Remember that that’s where you’re headed and live towards that day.
How does the prospect of ‘the day of God’ help you to live a ‘holy and godly’ life?
Peter both starts (1.3-11) and ends (3.18) his letter with an exhortation to grow: in what ways are you growing towards the day of His coming?
Prayer: May our love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ (Phil.1.9ff)
