Sunday 4 July

Repentance

Read Luke 3.7-18

“‘What should we do then?’ the crowd asked ..” (Lk.3.10)

Repentance is never a nominal, numinous thing. It bears its fruit in a person’s life. The message John preached was applied by him to the specifics of different individuals’ circumstances – just as it was on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2.37-39)

Gathering for worship with God’s people this day is a reminder of that day of Pentecost, when the promise of the Spirit was enjoyed by thousands: what has He been calling you to do in penitent faith?

In what ways has the Spirit of God made a difference to you as He has been poured out on your life as a follower of Jesus?

Prayer: Speak to me again today, my Lord. Show me what You would have me do, where You would have me go, whom You would have me see.
