River
Read Psalm 46.4-7
“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells ..” (Ps.46.4)
This picture of the river pervades the Bible from beginning to end, as a reminder of the constant provision which the Lord makes for His people according to their needs: He Himself is present always to them, to guard and keep them always.
As a believer have you fully embraced this glorious truth that the Lord Almighty is not only with His people (v.7), but by His Spirit truly within them (v.5)?
What is the comfort which the psalmist finds in the face of the turmoil in his world?
Prayer: Saviour, since of Zion’s city I through grace a member am, let the world deride or pity, I will glory in Your name – and in those streams of living water springing from eternal love!
