    Blindness

    Read John 9.24-34

“.. If this man were not from God, He could do nothing ..” (Jn.9.33)

Over against the sight which has been restored to the man born blind, the blindness of the learned Pharisees becomes all the more acute – and all the more culpable, a stark illustration of the truth that there are none so blind as those who will not see.

How teachable are you, when you are challenged about your attitudes, actions, and convictions by those whom you view as inferior?

The Pharisees’ conviction (‘we know this man is a sinner’) was rooted in a false interpretation of the Bible: how can you avoid being guilty of such error?

Prayer: Forgive me, my Lord, when my pride keeps me from listening when others see fit to challenge me: help me to be open to criticism and always to weigh it well.
