Challenging
Read John 7.45-52
“.. No one ever spoke the way this Man does ..” (Jn.7.46)
The guards were awed by Jesus. The so-called ‘mob’ were trusting in Jesus. But the ‘rulers’ (those in the know and those in power), they won’t give Jesus any sort of air time. Or .. Hello! Up pops one of their number, Nicodemus, to rock the boat a bit!
The arrogant dismissal of Jesus is commonplace in every generation: where do you see it in society today?
How hard do you find it to challenge the accepted ‘wisdom’ of your friends or colleagues?
Prayer: Speak, O Lord, as we come to You in worship today, to receive the food of Your holy Word. Words of power than can never fail, let their truth prevail over unbelief.
