Tangents
Read John 4.19-26
“.. Then Jesus declared, ‘I, the one speaking to you – I am He’..” (Jn.4.26)
When the word of God hits a raw nerve, our instinct, like the woman’s here, is to go off at a bit of a tangent. A resort to theological questioning is often the way in which we’ll try to duck the challenge of God’s truth. But you can’t get away from Jesus!
Why did the woman change the subject?
What are the issues in your life which you’re still reluctant to address?
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the patient way in which You deal with all the foibles, flaws and failures in my life. Help me to show the same patience to others.
