    Awakened

    Read John 11.8-16

“.. Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep .. I am going there to wake him up ..”  (Jn.11.11)

Jesus journey to Judea provides a picture of His whole mission. In the face of clear hostility He nonetheless comes to a man He loves (humanity) who is dead in order to ‘wake him up’. The gospel is His wake-up call, whereby those who are dead now live!

Why does Jesus speak of Lazarus’ death in terms of his having fallen ‘asleep’?

In what ways must disciples of Jesus share in His death (v.16) if life is to be imparted to others?

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the privilege You give Your people of sharing in Your work. Please help those today who, throughout the world, are persecuted for their faith.
