    Devotion

    Read Philippians 3.12-16

    “.. but one thing I do ..’” (Phil.3.13)

Focus is key. From the psalmist’s “one thing I ask” (Ps.27.4), through the Lord’s “one thing is needful” (Lk.10.42) to Paul’s emphatic “one thing I do”, the summons of the Bible is to single-minded and whole-hearted devotion to the Lord.

Has your life become too cluttered with a host of different interests and pursuits?

What did it mean for Paul to ‘press on towards the goal’ of that upward call of God – and what does it mean for you to do so?

Prayer: “God deliver me from the dread asbestos of ‘other things’. Saturate me with the oil of the Spirit that I may be aflame. Make me Your fuel, Flame of God” [J Elliot]
