Perseverance
Read Revelation 2.8-11
“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev.2.10)
Persecution was common-place for the church from the start: indeed, Paul, insists that persecution will be the norm for believers (2 Tim.3.12). The risen Jesus encourages His people to face such trials in faith and without fear.
How do Jesus’ words here help believers face any such persecution with a bold and resilient faith?
When faced by persecution, why does it help to see the devil behind it (v.10), and to recognize this as part of a spiritual warfare?
Prayer: On this fresh “Lord’s Day” I will rejoice with Your people, O God, in the knowledge that my Saviour who died and came to life again will sustain me through all the trials which I may have to face.
