Read John 4.48-50
“.. ‘Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders ..’” (Jn.4.48)
Faith that demands the miraculous is fundamentally flawed, for it is conditional on the Lord producing the goods. Jesus makes it clear that He won’t ever court such a ‘faith’: in so doing, He draws out a genuine (albeit embryonic) faith on the part of the official.
How do you respond in faith when the Lord doesn’t ‘produce the goods’ and do what you’ve looked for from Him?
What is it about the official’s request here which indicates a genuine faith?
Prayer: Lord, help those today who are living with disappointment. Help them to trust You in their trials and to sense both Your presence with them and Your care for them.
