Kingdom

Read Psalm 2.1-12

“Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate His rule with trembling ..” (Ps.2.10-11)

The most powerful kings and rulers are no match at all for the Lord in His sovereign might: their efforts to defy His will, dismiss His Son and despise His people are quite literally ridiculous (v.4). It’s our wisdom to run to Him rather than rail against Him.

How does this psalm find its fulfilment in Jesus – and what difference does that make to you when faced by opposition?

In what ways might you today ‘serve the Lord’ and ‘celebrate His rule’?

Prayer: Keep me safe through this day, O Lord, for in You I take refuge: help me to keep my eyes always on You, for with You at my right hand I shall not be shaken (Ps.16)
