Afraid

Read Daniel 4.4-9

“I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented and prosperous. I had a dream that made me afraid ..” (Dan.4.4-5)

God has His ways of breaking through our complacent self-sufficiency, no matter how secure we may seem and feel ourselves to be: ‘bad dreams’ come in all sorts of forms, leaving a nebulous fear which disturbs our peace and troubles our hearts.

In what ways in your own experience has the Lord used ‘bad dreams’ to make you seek after Him?

The king again acknowledged his need of ‘revelation’: whom did the Lord use to help explain the gospel to you (see Acts 8.26-35)?

Prayer: Keep me, Lord, from any incipient complacency in my life of faith: ‘trouble’ me by Your Holy Spirit into a close daily walk with Yourself.
